Happy Birthday Leia and Rudy!

Leia's first birthday was April 23rd, and I've always used April as the month that marks Rudy turning a year older (I don't actually know what month or even what year he was born). We were in Peru for Leia's birthday, so Matt wanted to have a birthday party for the dogs this weekend. Matt made chicken and potatoes for the dogs to have for their birthday dinner. They of course loved it.

It's been a long time since I've had a good excuse to play with cake and frosting, so I made each dog a personal doggie birthday cake. The cake part was mostly peanut butter, carrots, and whole wheat flour. The intertubes lead me to believe that cottage cheese was better for dogs than powdered sugar and butter, so the frosting is mostly pureed cottage cheese. I was a little skeptical about giving the mutts that much dairy, but so far no one has puked. I'm therefore declaring it a success (so far)!

Those cakes are beautiful! I'm loving the pink frosting for Leia. I'm thinking you've officially started an annual tradition.
